Ask for Lorenzo

Here you will find loudspeakers that are speically designed by Lorenzo. These speakers reproduce unique sound characteristics and physics that are not found in conventional loudspeakers.  These loudspeakers are all built, shaped and molded by hand using conventional tools and traditional wood working technics and methods, something that is not seen in manufacturing facilities today.

Sound Without Boundaries

LOUDSPEAKERS

LCR-M6

The LCR-B6 is the perfect example on how my knowledge of loudspeaker has evolved over the years.

The Idea

The original LCR-5 monitor speaker was a satellite speaker ( or mini monitor ) design to be used in multi-channel sound along with a subwoofer.  After years off using mini monitors the realization can that most small speakers have a difficult time reproducing deep bass.  This was one of the disadvantages of using small speakers. Small monitors are great for near filed listening in which they re easy to place and offer very good imaging, but usually lack deep bass response.

The Result

After many attempts to solve this problem, the LCR-M6 was born.  It offers a bookshelf size monitor speaker that can still be placed in tight spacers, but offer big sound when needed.

This loudspeaker features a larger 6” driver that is designed to provide ex tented bass response that is able to play clear without losing detail.  The woofer is now coupled directly to the amplifier without the used of a low pass filter.  This allows the driver to received the full signal response without extra components getting in the way. This results in better sound dynamics and a more musical response.

The 1” poly dome tweeter has been replaced with the famous 3/4” poly dome which offers a very smooth and detail sound that makes recorded instruments sound real.  The capacitor has be change as well.  Each capacitor and resistors has been hand selected which does not filter or degrade the sound characteristics,  The result is a monitor speaker that can offer clean detail sound that is accurate at high levels and also provide great sound dynamics when needed.

PDF MANUALS

I decided to used a stamp frame driver to follow the traditional design of the LCR-80, which was the first speaker to use this style of driver.  I really enjoy the design and form factor of this driver.  The shape give you that classic look, while maintaining ease of mounting.

Looks Can be Deceiving

While this driver may have a conventional look cosmetically, it is capable of delivering a level of bass that is not normally find in woofer this size.

Yes, this driver is difficult to work with is high QTS which makes for a very large cabinet design.  By further testing exposed the fact that the cabinet size could be reduced greatly without scarifying sound quality!
