The SMT SE-5v delivers good sound performance and solid built quality that you typically
wouldn't expect from such a compact speaker. As one of our smaller satellite speaker
designs, it offers the perfect blend of size and sound. This speaker is ideal for
anyone seeking a discreet solution that effortlessly fits into a small room or desktop
setup, or enhances a multi-channel system without overwhelming your decor.
The SMT-5 speaker cabinet is made from 3/4"-thick MDF (medium-density fiberboard)
and designed to minimize unwanted resonance. Both the interior and exterior of the
cabinet undergo specialized treatments to enhance dampening. Additionally, the cabinet
is vented, ensuring precise bass response. Mounted on the cabinet, you'll find the
renowned 3/4" Vifa soft dome tweeter, delivering clear and smooth dialogue playback,
paired with a 5" aluminum cone woofer featuring a rubber surround for impressive
bass performance.
The Linkwitz-Riley crossover offers an 12 octave slope that ensures a seamless transition
between the woofer and tweeter. It boasts high-quality aircore inductors and metallized
polypropylene capacitors, all carefully connected with point-to-point soldering.
This design incorporates all the premium features typically found in larger, more
costly speakers.
